RESULTS SUMMARIES

The CROPDIVA project stretches out over 5 work packages that all address a different part of the value chain. In this section, you can find short summaries that bring together the most noteable findings from all five work packages in a short overview.

DELIVERABLE REPORTS

In this section, you can find the full reports the CROPDIVA partners compiled on the five workpackages that adress all value chain aspects for the underutilized crops.

WORK PACKAGE 1: INTERACTIVE INFORMATION PLATFORM

The first workpackage of the CROPDIVA project aims to set up an open-source interactive information platform as a toolbox to increase and promote agrobiodiversity in genetic resources, in agricultural production and in markets and consumption. In order to reach that objective, it will first make a synthesis of evaluate existing reasearch on the crops and support further decisions, after which it will develop a framework in which future data can be stored.

The following reports from within this work package are available for download so far:

> List of knowledge gaps and challenges that augment the current state-of-the-art

WORK PACKAGE 2: ENHANCING GERMPLASM DIVERSITY

The second workpackage aims to identify valuable genotypes from underutilised crops that will enhance genetic diversity within those crops. The genetypes that are sought, should increase the crops competitiveneness with the development and usage of new genomic tools and breeding approaches.

No reports from within this work package are available for download so far.

WORK PACKAGE 3: DIVERSIFIED CROPPING SYSTEMS

Workpackage three wants to enlarge biodiversity in agricultural systems by introducing the selected underutilised crops in various cropping systems.

The following reports from within this work package are available for download so far:

> Report based on literature and models for the selected underutilised crops

WORK PACKAGE 4: DEVELOPMENT OF NEW FOOD AND NON-FOOD PRODUCTS

The overall objective of the fourth work package, is to develop new food/feed and non-food products of the harvested underutilised crops to boost local value chains. To achieve this overall objective, the best performing genetypes in work package two, and cropping systems in work package three will be characterised for food and non-food product development. After that, new products will be developed, based on the raw material characterisation and on extensive market studies, value chain development, stakeholder analysis and consumer's expectations. In the process, new by-products that are orginated in th enew food processing methods will also be valorised.

No reports from within this work package are available for download so far.

WORK PACKAGE 5: MARKETING STRATEGIES AND PRODUCER-CONSUMER LINKS

The fifth workpackage aims to understand socio-economic relations that are shaping value chains for new food products based on underutilised crops. It hopes to make recommendations that will facilitate their marketing and will therefore suggest several research-based marketing strategies.

The following reports from within this work package are available for download so far:

> Identification of value chains from niche food and feed products for the implementation of new products from underutilized crops
